Eat Love - Frozen vegetables!

  • São congelados logo após serem colhidos, o que lhes confere uma maior frescura em relação aos frescos que muitas vezes ficam 4 ou 5 dias nas cadeias de distribuição à espera de serem vendidos;
  • Por serem congelados e ocuparem menos espaço são vendidos a um preço muito mais baixo do que os frescos;
  • Duram mais tempo por estarem congelados, logo podemos ter várias embalagens nos congeladores das nossas casas;
  • São mais práticos pois já estão cortados e lavados, prontos a cozinhar ou a triturar;
  • São ideais para fazer sumos ou smoothies por estarem congelados e refrescarem os restantes ingredientes da bebida;

Legumes congelados que uso:

  • Espinafres picados

Since I started drinking green juices, about two years ago, i've been using frozen vegetables as part of the ingredients. I remember the first time I used them, I wasn't quite sure that it would taste good, but I was wrong! Besides super tasty, it has a wonderful consistency, creamy and thicker just like a smoothie! As I prefer my juices a little bit thicker than usual, for me it was icing on the cake!

I'm pretty sure you have heard of the benefits that green vegetables offer us when consumed regularly. Also, we already know that we should have at least 1 serving of greens on every meal! But maybe you don't know that, unless you have a vegetable garden, we should opt for frozen vegetables instead of fresh ones!

How Come?

Here are some reasons:

  • They are frozen soon after being harvested, which gives them greater freshness comparing to fresh ones that are often stored 4 or 5 days in supply chains waiting to be sold;
  • Because they are frozen and occupy less space they are sold at a much lower price than the fresh ones;
  • They last longer because they are frozen, so we can have several packages in our freezers;
  • They are more practical because they're already cut and washed, ready to cook or blend;
  • Ideal for making juices or smoothies because they are frozen and refresh the remaining ingredients of our juice;

Frozen vegetables that use:

Chopped spinach
Broccoli
Kale (since I  have organic kale at home I usually cut and freeze the remains so they don't spoil in the fridge and I end up using them in  my juices or smoothies)
